West Ham and Aston Villa want to sign Tottenham full-back Danny Rose according to a report from Le 10 Sport.
Both the Hammers and the Villans could do with adding an established left-back to their ranks this summer.
Dean Smith has already spent big at Villa Park. Meanwhile, David Moyes is still yet to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium, aside from the signing of Tomas Soucek of course.
It seems as though Aston Villa’s business is far from done, however. Le 10 Sport claims that the west Midlands outfit are a leading contender to sign Tottenham ace Danny Rose. West Ham allegedly want the 30-year-old Spurs man as well.
The north London club are looking for around £5 million for the England international (Corriere dello Sport). And that would represent very good value for either the Hammers or the Villans.
The 30-year-old, who earns £60k-a-week at Spurs (Spotrac), has enjoyed a great Premier League career.
In 194 top flight appearances, Rose has racked up 445 tackles with a 78% success rate, 310 interceptions, 431 clearances and 39 blocked shots (premierleague.com).
The England international would be a superb signing for either West Ham or Villa on paper. But he does have attitude problems. That was made clear by his petulant behaviour in the recent Amazon documentary.
The bottom line, however, is that he is far better than Aaron Cresswell. And for just £5 million, we can’t go wrong.
Let’s just hope that we can beat Aston Villa to Rose’s signature this summer.
