Hammers boss David Moyes will surely be keen to bolster his attacking his ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
And Magpies manager Steve Bruce will undoubtedly want more firepower at St James’ Park.
The Express claims that that Frank Lampard could be willing to let Batshuayi leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
And it has been suggested that West Ham are leading the race to sign the 26-year-old Belgium international. Although Newcastle are monitoring the situation, and could swoop in to sign the Chelsea man once their impending takeover is complete.
Stats
Batshuayi joined Chelsea from Marseille in the summer of 2016 for around £33 million (Guardian).
He has struggled to establish himself in west London, however.
The 26-year-old has racked up just 25 goals and six assists in 77 games for the Blues (Transfermarkt).
It could be argued that he hasn’t been given enough opportunities to shine, however.
And who knows? Perhaps if given a regular run of games, Batshuayi could be a decent signing for West Ham or Newcastle. But Chelsea’s £40 million valuation (Express) of the striker really does seem to be rather ridiculous.
Perhaps it could be argued that the Belgian is worth around half that fee, at the very most.
And it now remains to be seen whether West Ham or Newcastle could be prepared to spend that kind of money on someone who has so far failed to deliver in England.
