According to a report from the Sheffield Star, West Ham are set to battle it out with Burnley for Sheffield United ace John Lundstram this summer.

David Moyes will be keen to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

The 57-year-old Scot has already brought Tomas Soucek to West Ham on a permanent deal. But with Carlos Sanchez having already left and Mark Noble now on the wrong side of 33, the addition of another central midfielder would not go a miss.

And the Sheffield Star claims that the Hammers could be targeting a bargain deal to sign Sheffield United ace John Lundstram. Burnley boss Sean Dyche allegedly wants to bring him to Turf Moor as well.

The Sheffield Star are claiming that Chris Wilder will allow the 26-year-old to leave Bramall Lane this summer. He has just 12 months remaining on his current deal with the Blades. So the Yorkshire outfit will not want to risk losing him for nothing next year.

The 26-year-old joined Sheffield United in the summer of 2017 from Oxford United. And he has gone on to be a real hit for Chris Wilder at Bramall Lane.

Lundstram played a key role for the Blades this season, racking up five goals and three assists in 34 Premier League games (Transfermarkt).

And if the Sheffield United ace is available for a bargain fee this summer, he would be a very good addition for West Ham. Whether they will be able to beat Burnley to his signature, however, remains to be seen.
