Report: David Moyes is an option for West Ham

West Ham will consider reappointing David Moyes as manager if Manuel Pellegrini is sacked, according to The Mirror.

Moyes is one of a number of options for West Ham. The Hammers hierarchy is also considering Chris Wilder, Chris Hughton and Rafa Benitez, according to this report.

West Ham appointed Pellegrini shortly after letting Moyes leave. The Scotsman kept West Ham up but the board decided to move in a new direction. 18 months on, it could be back to the drawing board.

David Moyes: A backwards step

West Ham have been stuck in the same old cycle of boring English manager followed by risky foreign manager. Sam Allardyce, Slaven Bilic, David Moyes, Manuel Pellegrini – let’s not go back to Moyes again.

While you have to thank him for keeping West Ham up, it wasn’t exactly the hardest task. Given the fact that he took over just a few months into the season, had a strong squad on paper and the January transfer window, he didn’t work miracles.

In fact, had he not won the final game of the season (a dead-rubber against Everton), he would have been the worst West Ham manager in history – statistically speaking.

With a win percentage of just 29.03%, he ended up marginally better than Gianfranco Zola (28.75%). Even Avram Grant (31.91%) and Glenn Roeder (31.40%) had better records than Moyes at West Ham. There are so many better options out there.
