According to a report from Buzzsport, West Ham boss David Moyes could finally land Nantes midfield ace Abdoulaye Toure.
In other news…’No-brainer’: Some West Ham fans beg Moyes to sign £50m striker linked with Hammers
The Hammers were allegedly chasing the 26-year-old throughout the entirety of the January transfer window, but a proposed move to sign him collapsed late on (France Football).
And Toure could be a useful option for West Ham.
Moyes drastically improved his central midfield options at the London Stadium by signing Tomas Soucek on loan in January.
Now that the Hammers have all but secured their Premier League status, they can make the Czech’s move to the club a permanent one (Guardian).
But even with Soucek and Declan Rice, the addition of another powerful and energetic central midfielder would not go a miss.
Mark Noble is well past his best, Carlos Sanchez will be leaving and it would be no surprise if Jack Wilshere was moved on either.
And Toure could be an upgrade on all three of those names mentioned.
Steal for £13m?
The Frenchman racked up three goals in 27 Ligue 1 outings for Nantes this season (Who Scored).
In those appearances he has averaged 1.2 tackles and 1.1 interceptions per match. He has also won an average of 1.5 aerial duals.
The 6ft 2in midfielder is a fine passer of the football too. In 27 league games, Toure has averaged 49.1 passes per match with an impressive completion rate of 84.3% (Who Scored).
The idea of Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice playing alongside the Nantes ace at West Ham in midfield next season is surely a hugely tantalising one for Hammers fans.
And according to Buzzsport, it could be a very real possibility.
