According to Le 10 Sport, the Hammers want to sign the Marseille ace this summer.
But L’Equipe then claimed that the 25-year-old has been offered to Tottenham by super agent Pini Zahavi.
And the French newspaper have provided another update.
L’Equipe (Monday, June 1st, page 3) suggest that Sanson would prefer a move to Tottenham instead of West Ham due to the fact that the north London club are more likely to be able to offer him regular Champions League football.
And the French midfielder will surely prove to be an excellent signing for whichever club wins the race for his signature.
Both Jose Mourinho and David Moyes will be keen to bolster their central midfield ranks this summer.
And Sanson would be the ideal addition. Although his £45 million price-tag (Le 10 Sport) does seem to be slightly on the excessive side.
Stats
Sanson has racked up five goals and five assists in 27 Ligue 1 outings for Marseille this season (Transfermarkt).
In those appearances, the Frenchman has averaged 30.1 passes per game, with a very impressive completion rate of 85.9%. He has also averaged 1.1 key passes per game (Who Scored).
The 25-year-old clearly isn’t afraid to put in a defensive shift either.
In 27 league appearances, Sanson has averaged 2.2 tackles and 0.9 interceptions per game (Who Scored).
The Frenchman is nearing the prime years of his career. And he will undoubtedly go on to be a hit next season at whichever club he is playing for.
So missing out on him to Tottenham will be a big blow for West Ham.
