It is claimed that two unnamed Bundesliga sides are prepared to offer the 19-year-old a deal at the end of this month.
Ngakia burst onto the scene at the London Stadium in January, making his senior debut against Liverpool.
He hasn’t looked back since. The teenager really impressed in four Premier League games for West Ham.
He was still on scholarship terms with the east London outfit, however.
Big demands for a somewhat unproven player
And the Mail reported that Ngakia rejected a £5,000 per week deal to stay with the Hammers. He allegedly demanded closer to £20,000 per week.
The teenage right-back will be free to walk away from West Ham when his contract expires on June 30th.
And the Telegraph claims that two Bundesliga sides are prepared to off Ngakia a deal when he leaves the London Stadium.
Blow for Moyes?
Losing the 19-year-old will be a big blow for David Moyes. But let us not kid ourselves. Paying a player who is totally unproven £20,000 per week would have set a dangerous precedent.
Players need to earn their stripes first. After all, we can’t be sure that Ngakia has what it takes to make it at the very top. There have also been questions about his mentality at youth level.
So perhaps this was a no-win situation for West Ham.
And it seems as though Ngakia may be the next young English talent to forge a career in the Bundesliga.
