According to a report from 90 Min, Celtic are intensifying their interest in boyhood Hoops fan and alleged West Ham target James McCarthy.

90 Min claimed earlier this month that Hammers boss David Moyes wants to bring the 29-year-old Crystal Palace midfielder to the London Stadium this summer.
And Eagles boss Roy Hodgson is believed to be holding out for around £8 million.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon wants to prise McCarthy away from Selhrust Park and bring him to Parkhead, however, according to 90 Min.
And it seems as though the Glasgow giants could hold the advantage in the race to sign the former Everton man. He is a boyhood Celtic fan, according to 90 Min.
Midfield could still be an area where David Moyes looks to strengthen this summer. That’s in spite of having already signed Tomas Soucek on a permanent deal.
Carlos Sanchez has left the London Stadium whilst Mark Noble is on the wrong side of 33. And rumours linking Declan Rice with an exit from West Ham refuse to go away.
McCarthy is a solid Premier League player and would be a decent addition for the Hammers.
Stats
The 41-capped Republic of Ireland international made 33 Premier League appearances for the Eagles last season. During those outings, the midfielder averaged 2.5 tackles per game. He also averaged 23.7 passes per game with a success rate of 77.8% (Who Scored).
A reliable and industrious player, McCarthy would be a very useful addition for just £8 million in the current market.
But as things stand, it seems as though Celtic have more chance of signing the Crystal Palace midfielder than West Ham do.
