David Moyes should be looking to bolster his defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
Ryan Fredericks has improved during the first two Premier League games this season. But he is still not good enough to be playing for a top flight team with the supposed ambition of cracking the top 10.
Ben Johnson has a lot of talent, but he is still very much wet behind the ears.
And Area Napoli claims that Napoli have offered Kevin Malcuit to West Ham. But David Moyes has rejected the chance to sign the Frenchman.
Stats
The French defender joined Napoli for around £10.5 million in the summer of 2018 (ESPN). But he has struggled to impress in Naples.
The 29-year-old made just four Serie A appearances for Napoli last season. In those outings, he averaged two tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.3 clearances and 0.3 blocks (Who Scored).
If West Ham are to sign a right-back this summer, they need to upgrade on Fredericks. And it is debatable as to whether Malcuit is actually any better than the former Fulham man.
So the Hammers have done the right thing in turning down the chance to sign the Napoli man.
