That’s according to reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee ahead of today’s big fixture reveal.

The new season gets underway on September 12th and West Ham fans thought the usual tough opening day fixture curse had struck again with Liverpool rumoured to be first up.

Leak paired West Ham with Liverpool on 2020/21 opening day

That was after the 2020-21 Fantasy Premier League campaign was launched on Saturday. On selecting players it listed their next opponents.

When selecting West Ham players it showed Liverpool as the next fixture and vice versa for Jurgen Klopp’s champions.

The likes of The Sun reported on the supposed ‘leak’.

West Ham fans voiced their displeasure at another tough call with Liverpool an understandably daunting prospect for David Moyes’s side as their first assignment.

The full fixture list for the 2020/21 season will be released today at 9am.

Insider insists Reds are not first up for Hammers

But anonymous Twitter and podcast personality ExWHUemployee insists the Hammers are not facing Liverpool first up.

“Just heard the fixtures,” ExWHUemployee said on Twitter.

“The leaked ones are wrong. We do not have Liverpool.

“The (West Ham Way) podcast will be out tomorrow (Thursday) where you can hear who we do have.”

That podcast is set to go live this morning at around 8am, ahead of the 9am fixture release.

West Ham’s disastrous opening day luck

West Ham fans will be delighted Liverpool are not their opening day opponents.

The Hammers have had torrid luck with first day fixtures in recent years.

Last season West Ham faced then Champions Manchester City at home – and duly lost 5-0.

The season before (2018/19) a trip to Anfield on the opening day resulted in a comprehensive 4-0 loss.

And Manchester United beat West Ham by the same 4-0 scoreline on the opening day of the 2017/18 season.

The Premier League promises to be fiercely competitive next season with the likes of Leeds United back in the big time.

So West Ham could do with a fixture that gives them a better opportunity to start the season with a victory.
