'Quality', 'Needs to improve' - West Ham fans discuss Nottingham Forest target Sam Byram's future

West Ham defender Sam Byram faces an uncertain future. He returns to West Ham this summer after a loan spell at Nottingham Forest.

But whether his future lies with West Ham remains to be seen. Manuel Pellegrini is likely to run the rule over him in pre-season and make a decision then.

Byram is wanted back at Nottingham Forest but is eager to see if he has a future at West Ham first, Martin O’Neill told The Nottingham Post.

The former Leeds United defender joined West Ham in January 2016 but injuries have halted his progress. In two-and-a-half seasons, he played just 36 games.

The 25-year-old returns with just eight games to his name, although he did impress when he was fit at the start and end of the campaign.

When Byram returns to West Ham, he has a number of players to compete with. Ryan Fredericks has made the right-back spot his own and will be hard to oust.

And then veteran defender Pablo Zabaleta and youngster Ben Johnson can provide back-up. Here are some things West Ham fans are saying about Byram’s future.
