The Hammers have been tracking the Amiens hitman for quite some time now.

According to a report from L’Equipe, West Ham have already made multiple bids for the Frenchman, with Amiens thought to be holding out for €20 million (£18 million).

David Moyes will undoubtedly be on the look-out for a new striker this summer in order to provide more quality competition for the misfiring Sebastien Haller.

And according to Amiens president Bernard Joannin, it seems as though Serhou Guirassy is a prime target for the east London outfit.

The Frenchman told But Football Club:

“I can’t tell you right now (where he is going), we’ll have to ask Serhou what he wants to do. In addition to the French interest, we can also add Crystal Palace and West Ham. Currently, the most interesting offers are those from England but we do not want to get in the way of Serhou’s career. It is up to Serhou’s advisers to see which is the best option.”

The Frenchman has scored nine goals in 24 Ligue 1 outings for Amiens so far this season. In total, he has scored 38 goals in 150 career club appearances (Transfermarkt).

Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Guirassy is strong in the air. In 24 league games this season, he has won an average of 4.1 aerial duals per game (Who Scored).

In those outings, the 24-year-old hitman averages 1.9 shots, 0.7 dribbles and 0.6 key passes per game (Who Scored).

Guirassy is clearly not a prolific striker. But he does put in a shift every game that he plays. It could be argued that West Ham need a clinical goalscorer to accompany Haller, however.

The Amiens forward is more of a target man, and too similar to the former Eintracht Frankfurt striker.

He also has no experience of playing in intense and frenetically paced Premier League.

Perhaps this is one West Ham should avoid.
