According to a report from the Express, Chelsea are lining up a £20 million bid for alleged long-term West Ham target Fyodor Chalov.

The Daily Mail claimed in the summer that the Hammers wanted to sign the 21-year-old CSKA Moscow hitman, and these claims were backed up ExWHUemployee. But a move to east London failed to materialise for the Russian.

And with West Ham currently very short in attacking department, someone like Chalov would have been the perfect January addition for David Moyes.

The Russia under-21 international has scored 31 goals over the past two-and-a-half seasons, and although that’s not exactly prolific, he is still very young. He has real potential to go on and become a truly top class striker.

But the Hammers’ hopes of landing Chalov appear to have been dealt a blow.

The Express claims that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is lining up a £20 million January bid for the CSKA Moscow hitman.

A move to Stamford Bridge might prove to be too hard to turn down for the young Russian. Although West Ham might be able to offer him more regular first-team action.

Much will depend on how ambitious Chalov is. And whether David Moyes is actually prioritising the signing of a new striker.

If the east London club do still want the CSKA starlet, however, their task has undoubtedly just got a whole lot more complicated.
