The 22-year-old is a truly sensational footballer.

He is adored by the Hammers faithful and it is little wonder, considering his quality and the dedication and passion he shows when playing for West Ham.

Rice has been outstanding this season. The defensive midfielder is the most important player at the London Stadium and is undoubtedly the first name on David Moyes’s team-sheet.

The 22-year-old is under contract with West Ham until the summer of 2024. The Hammers have the option of extending that deal by a further 12 months as well.

West Ham absolutely must match Declan Rice’s ambition both in the transfer market and on the pitch if we are to have any chance of keeping him in East London beyond the end of his current contract.

Dec can achieve anything he wants in the game IF he is provided with the platform that will allow him to succeed.

Owen Hargreaves thinks Declan Rice is ‘off the charts’

The West Ham ace has already been heavily linked with a move away from the London Stadium. Chelsea and Manchester United are both interested in signing the 22-year-old according to ESPN.

Hargreaves told the Daily Mail why Rice is such a good player and explained what he would bring to the likes of Man United:

“I think Rice’s upside is off the charts. He has the potential to be anything and a lot better. I think he plays within himself at West Ham. People don’t realise how big he is… he’s 6ft 3in. So he looks like a centre back, but he’s actually really good technically. I’m not a big fan of players who just play in there and pass it around. You have to stop players too. Declan Rice doesn’t have to dictate the game for Man Utd. He can pass to the players who can make the difference and be good defensively.”

West Ham are enjoying a fine campaign this season.

If we manage to finish inside the top six, and David Moyes is backed sufficiently in the transfer market, Rice may well believe that he can achieve his goals at West Ham.

The Hammers owners need to dig their heels in and do everything within their power to keep hold of Rice over the next few years.

He is truly indispensable to us. And for West Ham fans, the prospect of life without Dec is actually too upsetting to even comprehend.
