When speaking on Soccer Saturday today, Paul Merson has suggested that he would sell Sebastien Haller tomorrow if he was David Moyes, after the West Ham striker didn’t celebrate after scoring against Wolves last Sunday.

The 26-year-old has struggled for game-time under Moyes at the London Stadium since football resumed in June following a three-month lay-off.
Haller joined the Hammers from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2019 for around £45 million (BBC).
And the Frenchman struggled to impress during his debut season in the Premier League. Haller scored just seven goals in 34 games for West Ham. He has improved this term, however, with five goals in six games thus far.
Four of those came in the Carabao Cup against inferior opposition, however.
The 26-year-old did score in the Premier League against Wolves last weekend after coming on as a late sub. But he chose not to celebrate.
And Paul Merson explained why West Ham should sell him because of that, when speaking on Soccer Saturday today:
“You’ve got to celebrate. For me, I’d sell him tomorrow morning after that. I would look at him and think, ‘you don’t really want to be here’. You’re playing the best sport in the world, you’ve just scored a goal. There’s no better feeling.”
Haller is an incredibly divisive figure amongst the West Ham fans. Some love the 26-year-old and some quite simply don’t rate him.
There is a case to be made for both sides. The Frenchman certainly hasn’t been given the service that he needs in order to thrive. But at the same time, Haller really does need to put himself about a bit more.
Merson’s comments are undoubtedly a little harsh. Haller will clearly be wondering what he needs to do in order to force his way back into David Moyes’ starting line-up.
The only answer to that is to keep working hard, however, and taking your chance when it comes your way.
Let’s just hope that Haller still has a lot to offer us.
