What a difference a month has made at West Ham United.
Manuel Pellegrini got his West Ham career off to the worst possible start with four defeats.
That early season form saw the Chilean title winner made second favourite for the sack.
Fans, rival supporters and pundits started to suggest he was the wrong man for West Ham.
The common consensus was that Pellegrini could not be successful with a lower calibre of club and player having been at the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Proving the doubters wrong one win at a time
He had already proved himself at a so-called tier two club during his record-breaking spells with Villareal and Malaga.
And he seems to be quickly turning West Ham into a real force too with four wins on the bounce.
On Saturday Watford stand in the way of the Hammers equalling a 12-year-old record for the number of consecutive victories.
So what has changed?
Focused and together
Well not a lot according to cult hero Pablo Zabaleta. And he says that has been the key to West Ham’s turnaround.
“Four back-to-back wins shows the team is doing really well but nothing is done,” Zabaleta told whufc.com.
“The worst thing we can do in this moment is just relax and think everything is done and drop the intensity in games and all this.
‘Let me tell you the best thing about this team’
“We just need to keep focused on what we’re doing.
“The best thing about this team and the staff and everyone is that, a few months ago, in the tough moments, we trusted in ourselves.
“We knew we needed to keep working hard and the results would come and you can see now the team performing really well week-in week-out.
“Consistency is what you need in this league if you want to win games and if you want to have a successful season.”
