According to a report from the Daily Star (Sunday April 12th, page 41), West Ham are interested in signing Tottenham ace Eric Dier when the transfer window re-opens.
But signing the Spurs midfielder could be a completely pointless move from the Hammers.

Dier, 26, has been in poor form over the past 12 months or so.
Stats
The 26-year-old joined Spurs from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2014 for around £4 million (BBC).
And the 40-capped England international has gone on to rack up 11 goals and 11 assists in 235 appearances for Tottenham (Transfermarkt).
Dier, who earns £60,000 per week according to Spotrac, has made 169 Premier League appearances for the north London outfit.
And in those outings, he has made 284 tackles, 244 interceptions, 494 clearances and 706 ball recoveries.
The 26-year-old Tottenham ace has also won 780 individual duals and 384 aerial battles (premierleague.com).
Dier is a holding midfielder by trade.
He is decent at breaking up play, but his ball dispersion skills lack any kind of imagination and intent.
The England international often passes sideways or backwards.
Pointless signing
And West Ham signing the Tottenham ace would be a really strange move, considering the fact that they already have Tomas Soucek.
The Czech’s loan move to the London Stadium will become a permanent one if the Hammers avoid relegation this season.
And the only way the east London outfit would have any chance of signing Dier would be if they remain in the Premier League.
From what we have seen of Soucek thus far, he has a lot more about him that the Tottenham man.
The 25-year-old is more energetic, more dynamic and has more of an eye for a killer pass than Dier does.
West Ham should avoid a move for the Tottenham ace at all costs. They already have a better version of their own.
