The 24-year-old Germany international is set to join the Blues from RB Leipzig for around £50 million at the end of the season, and he will be paid a whopping £200,000 per week, according to Sky Sports.
And if Werner does end up joining Chelsea, Giroud will undoubtedly fall even further down the pecking order under Frank Lampard.
The French World Cup winner is already behind Tammy Abraham. And he will surely not be prepared to be Chelsea’s third-choice striker.
With this in mind, West Ham should swoop in for the 33-year-old. And considering his age, it might just be the Hammers’ final chance to bring him to the London Stadium.
The Sun claimed that David Moyes wanted to sign Giroud in January. And those claims were backed up by West Ham insider ExWHUemployee.
And the Chelsea hitman could be a very useful addition for the Hammers.
At the very least, he is someone who Sebastien Haller could learn a lot from. And Giroud might just be able to help his countryman improve and reach the level he needs to be at.
Stats
The 33-year-old, who earns £110k-a-week according to Spotrac, actually possesses a very decent goalscoring record, with 203 goals in 507 career club games to his name.
He has also scored 39 goals in 97 games for France.
This season, he has scored two goals in nine Premier League games (Who Scored).
Giroud is one of the most dominant strikers in the air in world football. There are very few who compare to the Frenchman aerially.
The Chelsea man would be a very useful addition for West Ham. And if Lampard does bring Werner to Stamford Bridge, the Hammers might just have one final chance to sign a player they have been chasing for quite some time now.
