The Hammers fought back from 3-0 down inside the first 15 minutes to walk away from north London in buoyant spirits having drawn the match 3-3.
It really was the comeback of all comebacks.
Manuel Lanzini was introduced into the game after 77 minutes when the score was 3-0 to Spurs.
In fairness, the 27-year-old Argentine didn’t do too much before the 94th minute.
And it was then when Lanzini thundered a strike in to Hugo Lloris’s top left-hand corner. Every single West Ham fan would have gone absolutely mental wherever they were watching the game.
David Moyes lost it as well. The Scot ran on the pitch whilst jumping up and down with his hands in the air. It really was very David Pleat-esque.
And Moyes told reporters after the game how he and his players laughed when watching back the video of his celebrations, as quoted by Football.London:
“I saw it back, I laughed and all the players did too. That was a complete moment. Look, this is what football is for. When you are trying to win and it is difficult, you get something from nowhere and the emotion, that is why we are in it.”
Let’s hope that we get to see those kinds of celebrations more often this season.
Things are looking good at the moment. And there are plenty of reasons for the West Ham fans to be positive.
Sure, we are very light in certain areas. But following the arrival of Said Benrahma and perhaps now with a resurgent Manuel Lanzini, the Hammers can push for a top 10 finish this term.
