West Ham United captain Mark Noble has become a peripheral figure in team this season but he is still the leader in the dressing room.

West Ham have made an excellent start to the campaign and are ensconced around midtable, within striking distance of the European spots.
That’s despite being handed one of the toughest fixture schedules ever dished out to a Premier League team at the start of a season.

West Ham defying doom and gloom predictions
Many pundits predicted West Ham could find themselves in the mire by now given the ridiculously difficult run.
But David Moyes has overseen a transformation at West Ham with the Hammers sitting pretty on 11 points from their opening eight games following the 1-0 win over Fulham.
With an easier run of games to come – on paper at least – many feel West Ham could be in line for a successful campaign in what is a wide-open Premier League.

Noble warns against complacency
Speaking in an interview on talkSPORT this morning West Ham captain Noble acknowledged it has been a ‘decent’ start but has warned against complacency.
“We’ve had a decent start and we’ve played some tough teams,” Noble said on talkSPORT.
“I think we’ve got a good amount of points and this (international break) is probably a time to look back and think how can we get better now and progress.
“The manager changed the shape and it suited a lot of our players, it suits Cress (Aaron Cresswell) and everybody has seen how well he’s been playing, it suits Angelo (Ogbonna) and the likes of Arthur (Masuaku) who has come back into the side as well.

‘It’s sort of clicked… but I know how quickly things can change’
“It has sort of clicked – you never know sometimes in games, you can lose against the so-called easier teams and then that fear factor drives you on in games where you maybe aren’t expected to get anything.
“(But) it’s a long old season and we’ll try not to get carried away with the decent start we had… I’ve been West Ham all my life and I know how quickly things can change.”
A sage if rather unexciting assessment from the skipper.
But perhaps they are exactly what is needed right now ahead of tough tussles against a Sheffield United side desperate for their first win and an Aston Villa team that has started the season in great form.
