Mark Noble says £45million flop Sebastien Haller’s West Ham career will go one of two ways

West Ham United are struggling and homegrown captain Mark Noble is not holding back at the moment.

The Hammers have won just once in the last 10 games.

As a result West Ham have nosedived from third in the Premier League to the brink of the relegation zone.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini is facing an uncertain future.

But he has not been helped by a host of players simply not performing.

Haller struggling in lone striker role

One of those has been record £45million striker signing Sebastien Haller.

The Frenchman enjoyed a decent start to his West Ham career with three goals from his first three games.

But he has only scored once since, losing his place to winger-cum-forward Michail Antonio as a result.

Some fans believe Pellegrini is failing to get the best out of Haller by playing him as a lone striker.

There is strong evidence to support that argument too.

Pellegrini or player to blame?

Haller scored 35 goals and provided 14 assists in the last two seasons as part of a striker partnership at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Besides question marks over his ability, some Hammers fans have questioned the striker’s workrate, attitude and desire too.

Now West Ham skipper Noble has spoken out on Haller’s situation in his column with The Evening Standard.

And Noble says Haller’s West Ham career is at a crossroads.

“It is clear Sebastien Haller is short of confidence, but for a player like him coming into the Premier League, it was never going to be easy,” Noble said in The Evening Standard this week.

Noble says Haller’s Hammers career at a crossroads

“It’s a tough one at the moment, because the team are struggling, he hasn’t been making the impact we saw in the first few games and strikers need to feed off goals.

“Against Chelsea, we looked really dangerous and Michail alone could have scored four. In contrast, it hasn’t been falling for Seb and when it’s like that you have the choice of two options. You either dig in, grind away, do the things that you know have worked before, keep learning and improving — or you go the other way, blame everyone else and think the fault lies with them.

“I’m sure Seb has the character to make things work for himself and still make this season a personal success.”
