West Ham earned a hard-fought point away at Bournemouth yesterday, but their afternoon was sullied by the fact that Lukasz Fabianski picked up what looked like a serious injury in the first-half of the match.
The 34-year-old has arguably been the Hammers’ best player this season. He is so important to Manuel Pellegrini’s side, what with his cool and reassuring presence at the back.
West Ham fans will be praying that Fabianski is not out for too long. It will be a real worry for Pellegrini that he might be without one of his most consistent performers for a sustained period of time.
The Chilean spoke to reporters after yesterday’s match against Bournemouth, and provided an update on the Polish stopper, as quoted by Football.London:
“He felt a problem in his hip. We’ll see tomorrow.”
Well-informed insider ExWHUemployee then took to Twitter, suggesting that Fabianski left the Vitality Stadium on crutches:
Next up for West Ham is a home game against Crystal Palace next weekend. And it seems as though Roberto or David Martin will have to fill in for Fabianski.
And in a game that will be a must win for the Hammers, that will be far from ideal.
