Former West Ham midfielder Yossi Benayoun has announced his retirement from football.
West Ham’s official Twitter account sent a message to Benayoun wishing him luck in life post-football.
The account shared a clip of one particular standout goal against Fulham, where he twists and turns before placing a delicate lob over the goalkeeper.
Yossi Benayoun at West Ham
Benayoun played for Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers in England but West Ham were the team to bring him to the Premier League.
The Hammers snapped him up in 2005 when he was 24, signing the midfield star from Racing Santander.
According to a BBC Sport article at the time, he cost West Ham £2.5m. This proved to be a bargain in hindsight.
The Israel international scored eight goals in 72 games for West Ham and later returned for a loan spell, playing a further six times.
West Ham fans flocked to social media to pay tribute to Benayoun, reminiscing about his time in East London.
Here are some of the best tweets about Benayoun from West Ham supporters.
