West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady looks set to finally make good on a promise made to fans four years ago.

It is fair to say Brady is not the most popular person among West Ham fans.

Some appreciate the sterling job she has done in turning around the club’s finances following the doomed Icelandic ownership.

A small few even admire the undeniably outstanding deal she brokered for the rights to move to the former Olympic Stadium.

Whether West Ham fans like it or not Brady has played a key role in streamlining a club flirting with administration to the 17th richest in world football.

Why Brady is so unpopular at West Ham

Not that it is reflected in the transfer market or on the pitch.

But many more loathe the Apprentice TV star and feel she is to blame for ripping the soul out of the club.

Brady’s rap sheet in that regard is lengthy.

From broken promises over the move to Stratford to ill-judged comments about the club not having any ‘culture’ (Evening Standard).

Her column in The Sun where she often talks about intimate West Ham business and the goings-on at rival clubs is also a major bone of contention for supporters.

And it even infamously interfered with West Ham’s transfer plans regarding a failed bid to land Leicester striker Islam Slimani.

Fans still angry over broken stadium pledges

One of many pledges made to supporters when moving to the London Stadium was that they would receive free WiFi in the ground.
While it may be the bottom of the list for fans when it comes to the host of grievances with the stadium, it has often been used as a rod with which to beat Brady and co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold.
After all if trio can’t even deliver WiFi at a major sporting venue in the 21st century how can they be trusted to deliver world class players and a coherent plan to take West Ham to the fabled ‘next level’.
However it now looks as though Brady is finally set to make good on the WiFi pledge. And it’s only taken nearly four years.

WiFi promise finally set to come true, nearly four years on

According to Claret & Hugh, which claims to have a top level source inside West Ham – believed to be Sullivan himself – the London Stadium will finally get WiFi for punters in the new year.
London Stadium 185, O2 and networking hardware company Cisco will make high speed WiFi available at West Ham home games from February 2020.
“The new super fast Wi-Fi has been available for testing at games since November to West Ham supporters with download speeds experienced of 80mbps download and 120mbps upload available to all fans at the London Stadium,” Claret & Hugh state.
