City opened the scoring through a Ruben Dias header.
The Hammers fought back, however, and equalised just before half-time after Michail Antonio hammered home from a Jesse Lingard lay-off.

John Stones put City 2-1 up with around 25 minutes left to play. West Ham hung on in there, however, and proved to be more than a match for Manchester City.
David Moyes deserves huge credit for the job he has done since taking over for a second time at the London Stadium in December 2019.
And all the fine work that he has done has already yielded dividends.
West Ham looked liked a proper team at the Etihad today.
Manchester City were nowhere near their best but they still had numerous players who can win a game of football in an instant.

What an absolute joy it is to be a West Ham fan at the moment.
Sure, we didn’t get anything from today’s game…but we can all be extremely proud of this West Ham United team.

John Stones delivered his verdict after Manchester City scraped a 2-1 win over West Ham today, when speaking on BT Sport at 14:34:
“Lot of credit to West Ham. Where they are in the table speaks for itself. We’ve got to give them a lot of credit today.”
