The Hammers pair have been in outstanding form this season.

They are undoubtedly the first two names on David Moyes’ team-sheet.

The 25-year-old was signed from Slavia Prague for around £15 million in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old England international, meanwhile, joined West Ham from Chelsea when he was just 14 way back in 2014.

Rice and Soucek have forged a wonderful partnership in the middle of the park.

The West Ham duo are truly elite. And the Hammers will do well to keep them both at the London Stadium over the next few years.

Jermaine Jenas rates West Ham duo highly

Rice and Soucek will be vital to our hopes of finishing inside the top six this season.

One thing’s for sure, there aren’t any players in world football who would relish playing against the Hammers pair.

Jermaine Jenas suggested that he certainly would have like to play against the ‘problem’ duo:

“The partnership with Rice and Tomas Soucek in midfield. When I do my analysis on games, I’m always asking myself, ‘would I like to play against that midfield or not’, and Rice and Soucek are a bit of a problem.”

Let’s hope that Rice and Soucek keep up their fine form for the remainder of the campaign.

There’s no reason why they shouldn’t be able to. They are both incredibly fit players. Having said that, it is a real worry that they are being pushed dangerously closed to the red zone, with little competition or cover in West Ham’s central midfield department.

Hopefully neither of them suffer any injury problems between now and May. And if they don’t, West Ham have every chance of finishing inside the top six this season.
