Jarrod Bowen hits back at West Ham fans who doubted him with comments and celebration

Jarrod Bowen has hit back at West Ham fans who doubted him with his post match comments and goal celebration.

When Michail Antonio’s form and goals dried up last season, West Ham were bailed out by an inspired Bowen who started producing top quality performances on a consistent basis.

Bowen’s form was so good he eventually earned the England call-up he deserved.

But this term the West Ham star has – like the team – struggled.

No goals or assists from his first seven Premier League games tells its own story.

And it saw many West Ham fans calling for Bowen to be dropped by David Moyes with the likes of Maxwel Cornet and Said Benrahma waiting in the wings.

Bowen and West Ham finally got some joy in a much-needed 2-0 win over Wolves, though.

The wide man had a part to play in the first when he forced Wolves to clear the ball to Gianluca Scamacca on the edge of the box before the Italian fired home.

And Bowen got in on the act in the second half as he sent a stinging low drive into the bottom corner when he got onto the ball inside the box.

There is no doubt it has been a tough spell for Bowen. And he showed he clearly takes notice of what is being said about him online and on social media if his reaction is anything to go by.

Bowen has hit back at West Ham fans who doubted him with his comments and celebration.

After scoring Bowen celebrated in front of the West Ham fans before pumping his fist and passionately telling his doubters where to go with a well known two-word phrase.

It is the kind of fire in the belly West Ham fans will love to see regardless of the motivation.

Then after the game Bowen made it clear he had noted that some West Ham fans have been calling for him to be dropped.

“Scoring the first Premier League goal is a massive weight off the shoulders,” Bowen said after the game (

“I scored a couple in Europe but the first Premier League goal is the one you want.

“I had a couple of chances today and when you’re not scoring some people say you should be dropped, but you keep plugging away, keep doing the basics – I always do the basics every single day – and I know the belief I’ve got in myself and from everybody around me that I’ll score goals.

“Today I’m delighted obviously with the goal, and with the victory as well it’s perfect.”

Some fans may not like seeing a player respond to them in the way Bowen has with his celebration and by making a point about those who had called for him to be dropped.

West Ham fans are rightly demanding. Especially when a player has set such high standards.

But if the criticism Bowen has seen has motivated him to respond then that shows his hunger and desire to do well.

And that can only be good for West Ham.

Make us believe again Moyes now is time to unleash a new West Ham.

When will it end? Now Moyes wants to drip-feed Noble.
