Jamie Redknapp has claimed that the West Ham owners will be frustrated with the fact that their team came so close to getting relegated this season, when writing his regular column for the Daily Mail.
In other news…David Moyes claims West Ham are very lucky to have heavily criticised player
The Hammers are currently sitting in 15th spot in the table and have all but assured their top flight status for another season.
West Ham should now be looking to kick on next season by recruiting smartly in the transfer window and developing a playing identity built around energy, dynamism and youth.
When David Moyes took over at the London Stadium in December last year, the Hammers were in real trouble. In truth, the Scot hasn’t really taken the club forward, but luckily enough for him, at least three teams have been worse than West Ham this season.
In fairness to Moyes though, he has managed to keep the Hammers up. And for that, he does deserve at least a full season in charge.
West Ham quite simply must be looking for a top 10 finish next term. They have good enough players on the most part.
And Jamie Redknapp suggested that they should have been nowhere near the relegation zone this season, when writing his column for the Daily Mail:
“West Ham’s owners will be delighted but at the same time frustrated. This isn’t a squad who should be securing safety with a game or two to go.”
Moyes has a lot of work to do this summer. He has to move on numerous underperforming big name players. And in addition to that, the 57-year-old needs to bring in four or five talented young stars.
It will be easier said than done. But if he manages to do just that, then who knows? Perhaps he might surprise a few people next season.
