West Ham have touched down in China ahead of the Asia Trophy campaign. The Hammers are in China for the pre-season Asia Trophy tournament with three other Premier League teams.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men will take on Manchester City in the Asia Trophy semi-final next week. And the winners will face either Newcastle United or Wolverhampton Wanderers in the final.
After spending a period of time in Bad Ragaz, West Ham are now in China. And upon arrival, it was Jack Wilshere who attracted the fans’ attention.
Jack Wilshere idolised
As West Ham touched down in Nanjing, queues started building at the airport. Fans wanted to catch a glimpse of the West Ham players and they brought flags and football shirts to greet them.
Jack Wilshere, who spent most of last season out injured, was one of the players that fans waited for. Two fans held up Arsenal tops with Wilshere emblazoned across the back.
Other players who received attention included Manuel Lanzini (Argentina top) and Javier Hernandez (Mexico and Manchester United shirts).
Declan Rice poses with the fans
West Ham favourite Declan Rice wasted no time interacting with his fans in China. The England international was pictured taking selfies with the crowds at the airport in Nanjing.
Last season, the 20-year-old became a key player. Pellegrini deployed him in the central midfield position and his good form earned him a call-up to the senior England side.
The Chinese crowds know that Rice is a key player and he spent time with his fans. All eyes will now be on West Ham’s clash with Man City on Wednesday.
