West Ham fans determined to drive GSB out

The relationship between the board and fans looks beyond repair. Particularly if speculation that the owners will refuse to invest in the January window are accurate.

West Ham have been linked with a host of takeovers in recent months.

From Red Bull to the prospective Saudi buyers of Newcastle and mystery US consortiums (The Guardian).

There was also talk of interest from a consortium led by legendary Hammers striker Tony Cottee.

When West Ham fans want answers they tend to turn to club insiders ExWHUemployee and Claret & Hugh.

The latter have direct links to the owners Sullivan and Gold.

Insiders don’t hold back on Hammers takeover talk as year nears end

And both have not held back in their assessment of the West Ham takeover talk as the club enters the 11th year of GSB’s tenure.

Claret & Hugh described the speculation as a ‘sham’.

“The fake rumour that West Ham were being taken over this year has been exposed for the sham it was,” C&H reports.

“Sources close to the club say they receive unsolicited emails all the time with bizarre and strange offers for the club but no-one has provided proof of funds to suggest they are serious and nothing has changed this year.

“There is no takeover is the background and there never was, hopefully, a new year will out to bed these sham rumours once and for all.”

Meanwhile anonymous Twitter insider ExWHUemployee also poured cold water on any takeover talk.

“I managed to get a load of stick for this too,” Ex said on Twitter last night.

“Directly from the people involved with it on a video and then from popular forums apparently because “I didn’t break it” I wouldn’t allow it to be true.

“Shame so many people got caught up in it but they knew what people wanted to hear.”

2023 is the reality for disappointed West Ham fans

The reality for West Ham fans is that they will have to wait until at least 2023 before Sullivan and Gold consider selling to any interested parties.

That is when the clause in West Ham’s deal with LLDC – which requires a percentage of any sale of the club to go to the stadium owners – expires.

While that is another two years away, it should mean we are long past the trauma of the Covid-19 pandemic.

And by that time UK Athletics will have moved from the London Stadium to it’s new home, the redeveloped Alexander Stadium in Birminghamread full story here.
