There are still six games to go in the Premier League but it seems the silly season has already started for West Ham United.

Speculation swirls around most top flight clubs.

But the media frenzy is never too far away when it comes to the Hammers.

It has been a comfortable season for the East Londoners compared to their first two campaigns at the London Stadium where they flirted with relegation.

Comfortable, but is it good enough?

There is a nagging feeling it could and should have been better, though. Particularly after a £100 million spend last summer.

A Premier League-worst injury list has taken its toll. But so has a questionable attitude against teams outside the top six.

The top six appears impenetrable in the foreseeable future. But Hammers fans feel there was a huge opportunity missed in both cups.

Shocking double rumour emerges

Even so there was great surprise among them when a report claimed West Ham might sack Pellegrini this summer.

French source RMC claimed on Thursday that West Ham are considering Lyon’s Bruno Genesio as reported by Sport Witness.

Hours later a post on social media claimed Sky Sports Italy was reporting that record signing Felipe Anderson wants to leave the club for a return to Lazio. The post said Anderson had grown disillusioned over the Marko Arnautovic saga.

For some West Ham fans it was a lot to take in and they wanted answers.

Insider issues emphatic response

So they turned to trusted Hammers Twitter and radio personality ExWHUemployee to ask the question.

And the reliable source gave short shrift to the speculation.

Asked whether there was any truth in either claim, ExWHUemployee simply responded: “Nope.”

So there you have it Hammers fans, it appears there is nothing to see here.
