'Incredible': Tomas Soucek names the West Ham player who's really impressed him

Tomas Soucek praised his West Ham teammate Manuel Lanzini, when speaking to the club’s official website, suggesting that he has belief in the Argentine because he witnesses his quality in training every day.

The mercurial 27-year-old has endured a torrid time over the past two years.

Lanzini suffered an injury in the build-up to the World Cup in Russia in 2018. And he quite simply has not been the same player since.

The Argentina international’s confidence seems to be shot to pieces. That was up until Sunday evening at least…

The 27-year-old scored a 25-yard screamer in the 94th minute against Tottenham to earn West Ham a dramatic late point.

And Soucek told how he has total faith in the former River Plate ace:

“For me it was incredible as well. I believed in him because I know how he can score, how he can strike the ball, attack the goal. Every day in training he’s shooting very well. When he had prepared the ball, I believed that he would score – and we could see what a celebration it was. When the ball was flying high into the net, I celebrated and all the bench celebrated. All the team celebrated and everyone ran to the corner. It was a draw and I think we deserved a point – maybe more!”

Let’s hope that Lanzini can get back to his old self now.

He really needed that goal against Spurs. And the confidence it will give him could end up being a huge turning point in his West Ham career.

The 27-year-old is obviously producing the goods in training. Now’s the time for him to step up and to show everyone what he is really capable of on match-days.
