Angelo Ogbonna has told the Italian media that he is happy at West Ham. In an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Ogbonna revealed that he wants to stay at West Ham for the long-term future.

The 30-year-old was dropped to the bench for last weekend’s win over Tottenham Hotspur and looks to be the third-choice centre-back at West Ham.

But he still insists that he is happy in East London. With a contract lasting until summer 2022, it seems Ogbonna is settled at West Ham and wants to stay for the foreseeable future.

Ogbonna told Corriere dello Sport (as translated by Sport Witness): “It’s great. I’ve found stability and serenity. I play in a competitive league, probably the most prestigious one in the world. I have a contract with West Ham until 2022, I’m happy and I intend to stay here for a long time.”

The Italy international has played 29 games for the Hammers this season, taking his overall tally to well over 100. He also has over 100 Premier League appearances to his name.

Although Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena appear to be Manuel Pellegrini’s preferred pairing, Ogbonna is still an important player.

His performances have improved this season after some criticism early in the campaign. And he is a solid third-choice option to have in central defence for the Irons.
