West Ham United fans have given Mark Noble a moment he will never forget.
The homegrown Hammer has pretty much seen it all in his 15 years as a West Ham first team player.
The lows of relegation, the highs of promotion, the Great Escape and the brilliant final season at the club’s beloved Upton Park.
Mr West Ham
West Ham’s captain has established himself as one of the most consistent players in the Premier League.
And Noble’s penalty success rate is right up there with the best in European football.
But it was the emotional ovation he received from West Ham fans as he left the field against Norwich City that will live long in the memory.
Noble’s lasting memory
Speaking in his column in The Evening Standard, Noble revealed the touching reception he received as he left the field did not go unnoticed.
“I have had plenty of other highlights in my career,” Noble said in The Evening Standard.
“One of those was the ovation the fans gave me when I came off in the second half against Norwich.
“It was extra special and perhaps an accumulation of a few factors: it was 15 years since my debut; I had come back into the team after injury and we had won two on the bounce.
“That ovation was memorable. It made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up — fantastic.”
And well deserved skipper.
Noble did not rest on his laurels in Monday night’s game at Aston Villa.
The midfielder put in a superb performance as he helped 10-man Hammers secure a 0-0 draw.
