West Ham United new boy Said Benrahma has denied he failed a medical before completing his move to the club on deadline day.

What ‘furious’ Mourinho really said to Spurs players after West Ham – insider

When West Ham completed the protracted signing of Benrahma last week it sparked anger and excitement from some fans.

Most West Ham supporters were excited the club had signed the talented Algerian.

Others were furious with owners David Sullivan and David Gold that it was announced as a loan deal with an agreement to make it permanent after reported concerns over medical results (The Athletic).

Medical cited as reason for late change in Benrahma deal

The accusation from some fans was that the West Ham board were doing everything possible to wriggle out of spending money during the window.

Downgrading Benrahma’s £30m transfer to a loan was seen – by some – as evidence of that.

Some supporters were sceptical as to whether there was an issue with Benrahma’s medical at all.

But The Athletic’s David Ornstein – and insiders such as ExWHUemployee on The West Ham Way podcast October 21st – claim there was.

Now the player himself has spoken out and claims he DID NOT fail the medical.

Benrahma told Téléfoot Chaîne that the results were simply late back which meant West Ham and Brentford had to restructure the deal.

Benrahma denies failing Hammers checks, insists results were just late

“No (I didn’t fail the medical), everything is very good,” Benrahma told Téléfoot Chaîne.

“It was just details that needed sorting out. Some results hadn’t come through yet. It was either we waited and I didn’t sign or it gets done quickly. That was it, small details, but my health is very, very good.”

Benrahma also told Téléfoot Chaîne he is ‘super happy’ to be a Hammer.

“There were small details that Brentford and West Ham had to sort out, but it got done and I’m super happy. It took time, but it’s over now. I’m 100% at West Ham.”

Benrahma has wasted little time impressing fans and teammates alike.

The 26-year-old playmaker impressed supporters by giving some of a loyalty bonus paid to him by Brentford to over 100 of the Bees background staff (Sky Sports & Brentford FC).

Super Said proving a hit already

Hammers fans loved it when they saw video footage of the Algerian on social media looking so happy when his signing had been confirmed.

To top it off, the star showed he is very much down-to-earth as he brought his mum along to his unveiling, and planted a kiss on her head while holding up his new West Ham shirt.

Benrahma has impressed in training according to insiders Claret & Hugh and ExWHUemployee.

And West Ham fans loved it that the first thing he asked his new teammates was ‘Is it like this every week’ following the amazing 3-3 comeback draw at Spurs last time out (ExWHUemployee).
