When Yaya Toure appeared on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football this week few could have expected a West Ham United star to get a mention for his best ever XI.

Toure has been linked with a move to West Ham since his former boss Manuel Pellegrini took over in East London (talkSPORT).

That move did not happen but Pellegrini has signed one of Toure’s former City teammates Samir Nasri.

Toure was in the MNF studio to run the rule over former club Manchester City as they cruised to a 3-0 win over Wolves.

All eyes were on Toure ultimate team

The game was such a non-event all eyes instead were on who Toure would select for his ultimate XI.

The ultimate XI is a feature of the show for guests and Toure was spoilt for choice.

He played in the Barcelona team regarded as one of the best sides of all time, he played in a Manchester City team that won multiple titles and played in the same Ivory Coast team as Didier Drogba.

To even make the squad for such a dreamteam is an honour in itself.

So it was high praise indeed for West Ham new boy Nasri when Toure gave him a special mention.

Toure apologises to Nasri for leaving him out

After naming the team Toure was asked if there were any players he found it hard to leave out.

“I must say Samir Nasri is so so good it was hard to leave him out,” Toure told Sky Sports MNF.

Considering who Nasri was up against it is understandable.

And it goes to show what a coup it is for West Ham to have landed the Frenchman and on a free no less.

Nasri has impressed in his first two games, slotting into Pellegrini’s Hammers side like he has been there for years.

Toure praise proves Pellegrini and West Ham have got quite a coup

He was named man of the match on his debut in a 2-0 FA Cup win over Birmingham.

The ex Arsenal man then shone against his old club last time out. He was dangerous throughout and set up the only goal of the game for Declan Rice.

Of course there is no shame in being left out of Toure’s ultimate XI. Here’s what it looked like. Quite simply breathtaking.

Toure’s Ultimate XI

Ederson, Rafa Marquez, Vincent Kompany, Carles Puyol, Andes Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Leroy Sane, Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o.
