ExWHUEmployee has claimed that Celtic boss Neil Lennon is interested in signing West Ham goalkeeper Joseph Anang.
The 20-year-old is very highly rated at the London Stadium. But he may find it difficult to force his way into the first-team under David Moyes.
Lukasz Fabianski and Darren Randolph are undoubtedly ahead of Anang in the goalkeeping pecking order. And it could be argued that fellow youngster Nathan Trott is as well.
So a loan move away from the Hammers may well suit him perfectly.
ExWHUemployee claimed that Celtic want to sign the 20-year-old West Ham stopper on loan this summer, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (Wednesday September 16th):
“There has been a lot of interest in Joseph Anang, Celtic and many other clubs are looking at loaning him.”
The Hoops need more competition in the goalkeeping department. And Anang could be a useful addition for them. If he is not going to be number one at Parkhead, however, a move north of the border would make little sense for the youngster.
The 20-year-old made 17 appearances for West Ham’s youth team last season and he really impressed.
Anang let in only 18 goals in those outings and kept eight clean sheets in the process (Transfermarkt).
He undoubtedly has a great future in the game, and a loan move away from West Ham will undoubtedly benefit him.
But only if he is given regular action. And it is debatable as to whether he would receive that at Celtic.
