West Ham striker Jordan Hugill, on loan at Queens Park Rangers, helped to beat Millwall yesterday. In Saturday’s Championship clash, QPR beat Millwall 2-1 at The New Den.
Hugill was a part of the QPR side who travelled to South London for the victory. It will greatly please West Ham fans, who will be delighted that Hugill played his part in beating the club’s bitter rivals.
Nahki Wells is the match-winner
Hugill could not add to his personal tally in QPR’s win over Millwall. But he has formed a stunning partnership with Nahki Wells in a front-two under Mark Warburton. It was Wells who proved to be the match-winner.
Wells is on loan from Burnley for the season. And the Bermuda international opened the scoring with a low left-footed strike. That goal came after 56 minutes and QPR held their lead for 15 minutes.
Millwall equalised on 71 minutes when Shaun Hutchinson netted from a corner. But Millwall goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski handed Wells the winner on a plate just seconds later.
The Polish goalkeeper missed a kick, allowing Wells to run through and tap into an empty net. It was a joyous moment for QPR – who are riding high. Hugill and Wells both have five goals each.
Hugill took to Twitter after the game to express his delight. The 27-year-old, who scored for Middlesbrough against Millwall last season, congratulated the team and Wells.
