Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has denied accusations that he ‘hates’ West Ham United.

Is Haller being mistreated by Moyes or does he simply have to toughen up?

Neville was once again on co-commentary for West Ham’s dismal 2-2 home draw with Brighton.

He caused controversy last week with comments about Declan Rice before the Chelsea defeat.

Neville said he does not believe Rice is a top midfield player, criticised his passing and said he looks like a centre-back playing in midfield.

Neville watches West Ham flounder again

Fast forward a week and West Ham winless run stretched to three games – and they have still not beaten Brighton in the Premier League after seven attempts.

David Moyes has been criticised by West Ham fans for his negative tactics and team selection of late.

Hammers supporters were shocked to see captain Mark Noble start again.

But so poor was his and West Ham’s performance he was substituted at half-time.

During the game Neville was highly critical of Moyes’s team selection and West Ham’s lacklustre display.

Pundit denies hating West Ham after criticism

The former Manchester United defender said Moyes had shown Brighton too much respect and had setup as if West Ham were facing Manchester City or Real Madrid.

There was a sense of frustration in Neville’s commentary at West Ham’s display, echoing the fury of Hammers fans watching at home.

But Neville had a curt response for a West Ham fan who accused him of ‘hating’ the club on Twitter.

“No,” was Neville’s response when a West Ham fan suggested the pundit hated the Hammers and was somehow revelling in the performance.

Neville’s verdict on Rice last week was nothing short of laughable.

Neville assessment of Brighton shambles was spot on

But in fairness to the Sky Sports pundit everything he said about West Ham’s performance and Moyes’s tactics yesterday was spot on.

He was clearly in tune with what West Ham fans want to see from their team.

Sky Sports is often very biased towards the so-called top four or six clubs.

But whatever your opinion of Neville, he was merely doing his job as a pundit by pointing out West Ham’s many deficiencies against Brighton.

The fact West Ham fans were in agreement with what he was saying suggests he called it spot on.
