Gary Neville absolutely raved about Michail Antonio after his incredible performance for West Ham last night, when speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football (August 23rd, 10:03 pm).
The 31-year-old became the Hammers’ highest ever Premier League goal-scorer last night with a brilliant brace against Leicester.
Antonio now has 49 Premier League goals for West Ham – two ahead of Paolo Di Canio.
He will obviously go on to score a lot more. The former Nottingham Forest ace is a real legend at the London Stadium.
This season could go down as one of his very best.
Gary Neville blown away by Michail Antonio
The 31-year-old will be absolutely key for David Moyes this season. His performance against Leicester last night underlined that.
And Neville spoke very highly about Michy, when speaking on Sky Sports last night:
“We’ve talked about single strikers. Antonio was absolutely brilliant, occupies defenders, nightmare to play against runs in behind. He’s a goal threat and his game has become more polished. Years ago, I never thought for one second he was going to end up being the presence that he is now in the Premier League.”
Neville is spot on. Antonio is such a handful and there will not be one defender in world football who would relish playing against him.
The 31-year-old has a real chance of scoring 20 Premier League goals this season. If he stays fit of course.
And Gary Neville perfectly summed up why he is so important for West Ham last night.
