There are worrying signs for West Ham United’s hopes of landing Matheus Pereira.
West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for West Brom playmaker Pereira this summer as it becomes increasingly clear a move for Jesse Lingard looks unlikely.
Hammers supporters have been excited at the prospect of signing the Brazilian.
West Ham heavily linked with Brazilian playmaker as Lingard alternative
Many believe that given he is three years younger than Lingard he would actually make a better signing for the long term.
Pereira contributed 17 goals and assists for the Baggies last season despite playing in a relegated side.
But the likes of Aston Villa, Leicester and Saudi side Al Hilal have also been credited with an interest (The 72).
Conflicting rumours over who will win Pereira race between West Ham and Al Hilal
There have been conflicting rumours doing the rounds over who has won the race for the midfielder’s signature between West Ham and Al Hilal.
And West Ham’s hopes look to be fading if Pereira’s social media activity is anything to go by.
That’s after the midfielder liked posts about signing for Al Hilal this weekend.
‘All the people of Al-Hilal are waiting for you’ said one post.
And ‘Come to Al Hilal’ said another.
Of course liking something on social media does not necessarily mean Pereira will be that way inclined.
Death knell for Hammers hopes or transfer mind games?
But coupled with some of the rumours that he has decided to switch to the Saudi side, things do not look too promising for West Ham.
Never say never when it comes to transfers and West Ham. But it seems Hammers supporters may have to start coming to terms with missing out on another prime target.
Another scenario is that Pereira is doing his bit to push West Ham into action with the club said to be trying to negotiate a loan with option to buy with West Brom.
