Four years after leaving West Ham United, former midfielder Diego Poyet is almost unrecognisable and some fans can’t believe it.
Once tipped for stardom, Poyet’s career came to a standstill after he joined West Ham from Charlton.
West Ham are believed to have beaten a number of teams, including Arsenal, to capture Poyet for a compensation fee after he left the Addicks.
That was back in summer 2014, when Poyet was still a teenager.
Former Hammer Poyet was tipped for the top
Back then, an 18-year-old Poyet – son of former Premier League star Gus Poyet – made his Addicks debut and went on to win their Player of the Year accolade.
The former England under-17 international was even tipped by The Daily Mail as one of 15 young English players to watch out for in the future.
But he made just three appearances for the Hammers and was loaned out to three different clubs before leaving when West Ham vacated Upton Park in 2016.
Poyet is only 25. But he has not had a club since leaving Cypriot side Pafos in 2018.
Career ground to a halt for midfielder who has been without a club for two years
And it seems the diminutive former midfielder has spent the two years since piling on muscle.
That’s if a picture emerging on Twitter is anything to go by.
Poyet is taking a selfie in the picture and showing off some impressive muscles.
It is a case of Adebayo Akinfenwa eat your heart out.
Gone is the slightly built Poyet who failed to cut it at West Ham.

It is perhaps a clear indication he has given up on resurrecting a football career as he will no doubt have lost the agility needed to play in central midfield thanks to his new stocky frame.
Some West Ham fans reacted in shock at Poyet’s new look when it was posted by a Hammers supporter on Twitter.
Poyet is clearly dedicated to his new lifestyle and more power to him. As they say once a Hammer always a Hammer.
