After six years of service, West Ham favourite Adrian is finally departing. The club’s official website announced its retained and released list and confirmed Adrian will be leaving.
Adrian’s contract expires this summer and he has been granted his wish to seek first-team chances elsewhere. After 150 matches for the Irons, Adrian leaves fans with fond memories.
Adrian at West Ham
The popular Spaniard joined from Real Betis in summer 2013 on a free transfer. After deputising for Jussi Jaaskelainen initially, the 32-year-old soon took the starting jersey.
Adrian was West Ham’s first-choice stopper for a few seasons but has had his game time limited in the last three campaigns.
After sharing duties with Darren Randolph and Joe Hart, he has lost his place altogether this season. The form of Lukasz Fabianski limited Adrian to cup outings only.
Now, he is set for a summer exit. Six years after joining, Adrian leaves West Ham with the fans’ respect for his passionate performances. He has produced some incredible individual displays between the sticks and will always be remembered for scoring the winning penalty in an FA Cup win over Everton.
Here are some tributes from West Ham fans after Adrian’s departure was officially announced.
