West Ham captain Mark Noble praised Aaron Cresswell’s performance after he scored against Manchester United. Cresswell netted West Ham’s second goal in the 2-0 win over Man United at The London Stadium.
The 29-year-old curled a sublime free-kick into the top corner to give the Hammers a two-goal cushion. David De Gea was at full stretch and he got fingertips to the ball but could not prevent West Ham doubling their lead.
Cresswell has been in and out of the West Ham team over the past season or two. Arthur Masuaku is now considered to be the first-choice on West Ham’s books but Cresswell’s performance was eye-catching. He stepped in as Masuaku is suspended and the performance certainly impressed his skipper on Sunday afternoon.

After the match, Cresswell and Noble were called in for an interview on Sky Sports. Cresswell admitted he was more happy with the clean sheet than the goal (which he described as a “bonus”) and Noble echoed those thoughts.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Noble said: “As Cress said, Arthur’s played well but he’s come in. Fantastic free-kick but not just that, his performance today has been first class and three clean sheets in a row is very special.”
Noble also produced an impressive performance of his own and was awarded the man of the match accolade. The humble Hammers midfielder tried to donate it to Cresswell, joking that “I thought I was giving to him.” Manuel Pellegrini now has a selection dilemma with Cresswell filling in for Masuaku impressively.
