After West Ham United lifted themselves back into the Champions League spots with victory over Spurs last week, much of the talk has been about David Moyes’s contract.

Relief for West Ham boss Moyes as report makes Antonio claim

Moyes was handed an 18-month deal when he returned to West Ham in January 2020.

That was a year more than he was given the first time around despite keeping West Ham up.

Hammers on the up under Moyes

He did the same again after replacing Manuel Pellegrini. But it is the remarkable transformation this term that has really raised his and West Ham’s stock.

The Hammers are enjoying their best season for 35 years.

And if they can hold on to a top four spot come what May, the club will likely be in the Champions League for the first time – barring a freakish set of results.

Moyes’s original West Ham contract was due to expire this summer.

And with the likes of his old club Celtic looking for a new manager that has raised some eyebrows.

Insider makes contract clause claim amid speculation

Many feel the Scot should be rewarded with a new long-term contract in light of the job he is doing at West Ham.

Now West Ham insider ExWHUemployee has made a claim about the reported clause in Moyes’s contract regarding a new deal.

“David Moyes is thought to have a clause in his contract that if West Ham finish 13th or above he will get an automatic contract offer which he doesn’t have to accept,” ExWHUemployee said on his Patreon site.

“Moyes was quick to dismiss rumours that Celtic had approached him earlier today and it is thought that whilst he will sign a deal he wants to concentrate on the season before any decisions are made!”

Ex’s update came after Moyes has made the revelation himself while discussing his future in Friday morning’s pre-match press conference, as reported by the likes of The Daily Star.

Hammers fans can rest easy after reassurance from the man himself

“The truth is that I’ve got something if we finish I think it’s above 13th where automatically it kicks in anyway if I choose. It’s still my choosing,” Moyes told the press in his pre-City conference.

“As I said, there’s no, there’s no big panic, and I don’t feel under any pressure with it.

“I don’t want anybody at the club or anybody else to feel under pressure by it because it’s not. We’ll get it sorted.

“I’ve got no intentions of going anywhere. I’ve already spoken to David Sullivan, we’re up to date and things are quietly ticking along.”

So there you have it West Ham fans. Moyes isn’t going anywhere. All that remains to be seen is how long his new deal will be for.
