ExWHUemployee has taken to Twitter and poured cold water on claims suggesting that West Ham are in pole position to sign Chelsea ace Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer.

Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs central midfield reinforcements at the London Stadium.

Carlos Sanchez will leave at the end of the season, whilst Declan Rice has been linked with a big money move away from east London.

Mark Noble, meanwhile, has clearly regressed over the past 12 months.

And Transfer 20 claims that West Ham are leading the race to sign Chelsea star Tiemoue Bakayoko with Moyes viewing the Frenchman as the ideal candidate to beef up his engine room options.

And it seems as though Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is willing to let the 25-year-old leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 25-year-old, who earns £110,000 per week (Spotrac), joined Chelsea from Monaco in the summer of 2017 for around £40 million (BBC).

The midfielder is currently on loan with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco. And despite his struggles in the Premier League with Chelsea, he has impressed in France with his former club.

Le 10 Sport report that Bakayoko will cost around £31.4 million, however. And in this current climate, that seems like a lot of money.

That isn’t to say that the powerful midfielder wouldn’t be a good addition to Moyes’s side though.

West Ham insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that the Hammers are actually not in pole position to sign anyone at the moment, however:

That seems fairly clear cut. Although Ex didn’t completely rule out the Hammers moving for the Chelsea man if and when their Premier League status is confirmed.

And perhaps if West Ham do avoid the drop, they will make a move for Bakayoko at the end of the season. Price dependent of course.
