ExWHUemployee has suggested that West Ham are indeed interested in signing Newcastle midfielder Matty Longstaff on a free transfer this summer.
The Daily Star reported yesterday that the Hammers are interested keen on 20-year-old Magpies ace.
But now ExWHUemployee has claimed that Longstaff has plenty of offers on the table, including one from his current club Newcastle.
David Moyes may still be on the look-out for another central midfielder this summer. That is in spite of the fact that he has already signed Tomas Soucek on a permanent deal.
Carlos Sanchez has left the London Stadium, whilst Mark Noble is 33 and clearly past his best.
Potential coup for West Ham
And Longstaff on a free could be a useful addition for the Hammers. The Daily Star claims that Steve Bruce is keen to keep the 20-year-old at St James’ Park, however.
West Ham might have their work cut out, however. Ex claims that the young midfielder has plenty of offers from other clubs, including Newcastle,
The Hammers should be able to offer Longstaff decent wages. But he will not be guaranteed action, with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek certain to start every game when fit.
Whether the 20-year-old would be prepared to accept a bit-part squad role at the London Stadium, however, remains to be seen.
