ExWHUemployee claimed that West Ham are still keen on signing CSKA Moscow hitman Fyodor Chalov this month, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast tonight (Tuesday, January 21st).

The Hammers desperately need more firepower in the final third to help supplement the talents of Sebastien Haller.

With just 10 days remaining before the transfer window closes, however, things aren’t looking good.

We have reached a point now though where anyone would be better than no one at all.

It could be argued that West Ham boss David Moyes should be prioritising the signings of a central midfielder and a right-back. But the Hammers chief cannot afford to overlook the problems in attack.

And Ex claimed tonight that centre-forward is an area where West Ham are looking to improve.

The reliable Hammers insider suggested that long-term target Fyodor Chalov remains on the club’s radar, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast tonight:

“Another exciting player who we are interested in in Fyodor Chalov, a Russian International forward. Very highly rated, was linked with Chelsea, there is some interest on our part to get him.”

The alleged interest in Chalov is nothing new. ExWHUemployee claimed in July that then Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini wanted to bring him to the London Stadium.

Could be a decent addition for the east London outfit

The 21-year-old hasn’t exactly been prolific this season. The Russian has just six goals and five assists in 27 games for CSKA.

He is undoubtedly a real talent, however, and might just be worth a punt for West Ham.

According to the Express, the Russia international could be available for around £20 million this month.

Chalov possess great movement, and has a wonderful knack of finding space in the opposition’s half.

He could very well go on to be a truly top-class performer, and might just be a hit at West Ham.

Whether the Hammers owners will be prepared to pay around £20 million for someone who is unproven in the Premier League though, remains to be seen.
