West Ham fans have been ridiculing pundit Graeme Souness on Twitter after footage emerged of him saying Declan Rice had little chance of playing for England.

In a clip unearthed by West Ham fan account West Ham Transfers, Souness clearly dismisses Rice’s hopes of making the England team.

Speaking on Irish TV not too long ago, Souness was quick to shoot Rice’s England chances down shortly after he switched allegiance from the Republic of Ireland.

The television presenter asks Souness whether Rice can get into the England team. And the Scotsman replied: “No, no, not a chance, no. Nowhere. Centre-back, centre midfield, nothing.”

Despite Souness’ opinion, Rice continues to impress with his consistent displays for West Ham. And the 20-year-old was rewarded with his first England call-up.

Gareth Southgate announced his squad to take on Czech Republic and Montenegro later this month and Rice has made the cut.

The West Ham youngster will be hoping to make his debut in one of the Euro 2020 qualifiers to continue his rapid rise to stardom and to prove a point to doubters like Souness.

West Ham fans on Twitter slammed Souness for this opinion and here are some of the best tweets.
