West Ham fans ashamed of club’s training facilities

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers believes their new base will help them attract top players.

Well if comments from departed West Ham striker Jordan Hugill are anything to go by the opposite will be true for the east Londoners.

Hugill was sold to Norwich in the summer after making just three appearances for West Ham following a £10m move from Preston.

And he took aim at West Ham’s Rush Green base after being shown around Norwich’s revamped facilities.

Departed striker Hugill says Norwich complex is better than West Ham’s

Speaking in an interview posted on Norwich’s official Twitter feed, Canaries player liaison officer Phil Lythgoe says Hugill told him the club’s Lotus Training Centre was better than West Ham’s.

“When I came up here it was just full of Portakabins,” Lythgoe said of Norwich’s training ground before the revamp.

“Just Portakabins and Portakabins. But since (Norwich director) Stuart’s (Webber) been here, along with Daniel (Farke), everything’s just ramped up a level, the facilities here now are fantastic.

“And I had the same conversation with Jordan Hugill. He came up for a chat with Stuart, I walked him round and he said ‘This is better than West Ham’ and West Ham are in the Premier League.”

Rodgers says Leicester’s new training ground will attract players and that doesn’t bode well for West Ham

West Ham switched to Rush Green from Chadwell Heath a couple of years ago.

But fans have been less than impressed with what they have seen since.

While their Premier League rivals boast top class, multi-million pound training centres, West Ham’s has been ridiculed by supporters.

Over the last couple of seasons various images have emerged online leaving people less than impressed.

Drastically improved training facilities were one of the key improvements West Ham fans want to see according to a recent survey.
